Citco Brings its Innovative Marble Work to the Design District

The brand opens a new Miami showroom.

“When I meet with artists, I tell them, ‘Make our lives difficult. Design something that you might think is impossible to do in marble, and let us do the rest. Because everybody can do the possible. So please try to imagine something that’s really difficult to do.’” That’s the directive from Citco founder and CEO Camiran Rasool, who cultivates a passion for collaborating with renowned designers to turn their inspirations into exquisite works of marble. Their concepts become finely sculpted reality courtesy of high-tech engraving machines and ultrapressurized waterjet-cutting equipment at the company’s Verona, Italy, headquarters.

Citco recently opened its first U.S. showroom in the Design District to showcase its visually arresting, highly customized furniture and home accessories, including bespoke flooring and refined cladding. The 2,600-square-foot space displays the company’s original projects along with the classical Citco Privé collection and the Design collection, which features works of renowned designers such as Norman Foster, Ferruccio Laviani, Arik Levy, Daniel Libeskind and the late Zaha Hadid. 

Rasool’s risk-taking means that the path to finished pieces is not always a straight one. But he approaches stonework with a mindset of research and development, an attitude that has breathed new life into an age-old medium.

“You take a block of marble, with its costs, and do all the work, and maybe you’re not able to reach what you had in mind. Then you start all over again,” he says. “This is something that is not practiced in our field. That is an advantage for me because I will go through this process. I don’t mind investing in doing and redoing something until it becomes possible.” 3801 NE Miami Court
